How to play killer sudoku
Fill the grid so that every row, column and 3×3 box contains the digits 1 to 9 once. The dashed shapes are cages. The digits in a cage must add up to the small number in its corner, and a digit cannot repeat inside a cage. There are no starting digits, so the sums are your clues.
Playing: tap a square, then a number. On a computer you can type 1–9, move with the arrow keys, press N for notes, Delete to erase and Ctrl+Z to undo.
Start with the cages that have only one possible combination, such as 3 in two squares (1 and 2) or 24 in three squares (7, 8 and 9). The rules and strategy guide explains the 45 rule and other tricks.

What is killer sudoku?
Killer sudoku is sudoku with sums. The grid starts empty and is divided into cages with dashed borders. The small number in each cage is the sum of its digits. As in normal sudoku, every row, column and 3×3 box holds 1 to 9 once, and a digit can never repeat inside a cage.
Is there a new puzzle every day?
Yes. The daily killer sudoku is the same for everyone and changes at midnight UTC. Sunday and Monday are easy, Tuesday and Wednesday medium, Thursday and Friday hard, and Saturday is expert. Missed one? Play it in the archive.
Does every puzzle have one solution?
Yes. Every puzzle on this site was checked by a computer solver, which confirmed that it has exactly one solution.
How do I make notes?
Press Notes (or N on a keyboard) and the numbers you tap are added as small pencil marks. Press Notes again to write normal digits. When you place a digit, the same pencil mark is removed from the row, column, box and cage.
What do Hint and Check do?
Hint fills in one correct digit: the selected square, or a random empty square. Check marks wrong digits in red. Both are counted in your result, so you can still choose to solve without them.
Which combinations fit a cage?
When you select a square, the line under the grid shows the cage sum and the digit combinations that fit. All of them are in the killer sudoku combinations table.
Can I print the puzzles?
This site is for playing on a screen. For printable sudoku, use our sister site sudokuprint.app.
